Community Guidelines
What you may not offer for swap, post or do in JustMess, how to report it and what happens next.
JustMess is a platform where people swap things. These guidelines apply everywhere: in listings and proposals, private and group chats, channels, stories, comments, reviews, profiles, chat names and the Pixel Garden game. They form part of the Terms of Service.
The platform is not a party to a swap and does not vet items beforehand (see section 4 of the Terms). So the rules below are what you yourself are responsible for observing — and what we withdraw listings and block accounts for breaking.
1. Strictly prohibited
- Child sexual exploitation in any form: material, text, links, grooming, attempts to sexualise contact with a child. Such material is removed, the account is permanently blocked and the information is passed to law enforcement. See Child Safety Standards.
- Violence and terrorism: incitement to violence, threats of harm, promotion or justification of terrorism and extremism, instructions for making weapons or explosives.
- Hate speech: attacks or degradation based on nationality, race, language, origin, religion, sex, disability or other group characteristic.
- Harassment: sustained insults, threats, blackmail, publishing someone’s personal data without consent (doxxing), coordinating pile-ons.
- Non-consensual adult sexual content: intimate material published without the consent of those depicted, covert filming, and any pornography in public areas.
- Fraud and deception: pyramid schemes, phishing, fake giveaways, listings for items that do not exist, soliciting prepayment, begging under someone else’s identity, engagement farming and account trading.
- Malware and hacking: distributing viruses or hacking tools, instructions for unauthorised access.
- Copyright infringement: posting someone else’s work without the rights holder’s permission.
- Spam: bulk messaging, intrusive advertising, automated creation of chats, channels, listings and accounts, publishing the same listing in dozens of copies.
- Self-harm: encouraging suicide or self-harm, instructions or glamorisation. If you are struggling, please reach out to people close to you or to a mental-health support line.
2. What may not be offered for swap
The following may not be offered, requested or named as the subject of a swap — not in a listing, not in a proposal and not in the messages about it. The rule applies equally when something is handed over “as a gift”, “for a review” or “for JUST”.
Substances and medicine
- narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors, and plants and seeds containing such substances;
- smoking mixtures and other substances whose circulation is restricted;
- prescription-only medicines, and any medicines handed over privately — their sale and transfer is permitted only to pharmacy organisations;
- potent, poisonous, radioactive and explosive chemicals and the reagents for producing them;
- human biological material: organs, tissue, blood and its components, and any brokering of their transfer;
- medical devices and instruments that require registration, offered without it.
Weapons and anything connected with them
- firearms, bladed, throwing, gas, less-lethal and air weapons whose circulation is restricted by law;
- principal parts and components of weapons, suppressors and restricted sighting devices;
- ammunition, cartridges, gunpowder, primers and reloading supplies;
- explosives, explosive devices and their components, restricted pyrotechnics;
- objects structurally similar to weapons where transferring them requires a permit;
- special-purpose equipment issued to state authorities, and the uniforms, insignia and identification of such authorities.
Wildlife
- wildlife specimens and animals and plants listed in the Red Data Book, and species restricted by international agreements;
- derivatives of such species: skins, mounts, bones, horns, tusks and articles made from them;
- protected plants, their parts and seeds;
- the products of poaching, including anything taken in breach of hunting and fishing rules.
Documents, money, other people’s property
- forged documents, blanks, seals, stamps, diplomas, certificates, driving licences and other forgeries, and services for producing them;
- counterfeit banknotes and payment instruments;
- other people’s bank cards, their details, access to banking or other accounts, and personal-data databases;
- state awards, and objects removed from burial sites and archaeological monuments;
- stolen property and anything else unlawfully obtained, including items whose identifying marks have been altered or destroyed;
- cultural property whose export and circulation are restricted.
Counterfeits and intellectual property
- imitations of known brands and goods bearing unlawfully applied trademarks;
- pirated copies of films, music, books, software and games, and keys or accounts obtained in breach of the rights holder’s terms;
- means of circumventing technical protection and of modifying devices where this infringes a rights holder.
Restricted adult goods
- tobacco and nicotine-containing products and the devices for consuming them, hookahs and their liquids;
- alcoholic and spirit-containing products, including home-made ones;
- pornographic material in any form and on any medium;
- sexual services and brokering them.
Prohibited material and services
- material designated as extremist, and the symbols and insignia of banned organisations;
- special technical devices intended for covert information gathering;
- services that are unlawful in themselves: hacking, surveillance, producing forgeries, helping to circumvent the law;
- living people, surrogate arrangements and anything connected with human trafficking.
General rule. Any goods, objects, substances, materials and services whose circulation is prohibited or restricted by the legislation of the Russian Federation are prohibited — including those not expressly named above. If transferring an item requires a licence, permit, registration, prescription or a special status as a participant in the trade, that swap does not take place through the platform.
If you are outside Russia, the restrictions of the country you are in apply as well: the platform’s prohibition and your local law apply at the same time.
A listing offering a prohibited item is withdrawn without warning and the account is restricted or blocked. For certain categories — above all substances, weapons, forged documents and material involving children — the block is permanent and the information is passed to the competent authorities.
3. Fair swapping
- the description, photos and stated condition must match what you hand over; disclose known defects and missing parts up front;
- photos must be yours or used with permission — someone else’s pictures from the internet in place of your own item are prohibited;
- you must actually have the item and own it; “made to order” listings and reselling other people’s listings are prohibited;
- settlement is only in JUST in-app currency; moving a deal to real money, cryptocurrency or gift cards is prohibited;
- soliciting prepayment and taking a swap outside the escrow mechanism are prohibited;
- fake deals, rating manipulation, arranged mutual reviews and the use of additional accounts for this are prohibited;
- demanding that a review be deleted or changed under threat, or offering a reward for a review, is prohibited;
- confirm a swap only once you have actually received the item: confirmation releases the frozen currency to the other side;
- if a swap falls through, cancel the deal rather than abandoning it — the frozen currency then returns to its owners.
It is safer to meet in busy places, in daylight, and with someone who has a swap history and reviews. Never share passwords or codes from emails and text messages — Service staff never ask for them.
4. How to report
In the app: open the menu on a message, profile, channel, listing, deal or review and choose “Report”. The report reaches moderators together with a link to the material.
For a swap, a report opens a dispute discussion involving both parties and a representative of the Administration — so the other side sees the claim and can answer it.
You can also block a user — they will not be able to message you, call you or respond to your listings.
If the situation is urgent (threat to life, child safety) or the reporting feature is unavailable, write directly to justapp4u@gmail.com with “Report” in the subject and a link to the material.
Rights holders and notifiers in the EU follow a separate procedure, with a required set of details and a right of counter-notice: Copyright and rights-holder complaints.
5. Consequences
Depending on severity and repetition: withdrawal of the listing, removal of the material, a warning, restriction of specific features (for example, creating listings, sending proposals or messages), a temporary block, or a permanent block of the account.
For child sexual exploitation material, terrorism and direct threats to life the block is immediate, permanent and without warning. The same applies to listings offering drugs, weapons, ammunition or forged documents.
Ratings and reviews obtained in breach of the rules are excluded from the rating. When an account is blocked, in-app currency and items are forfeited without compensation; currency frozen in unfinished deals is returned to the other party.
Misuse of the rules themselves is treated the same way: a user who keeps filing manifestly unfounded reports after a warning has reporting suspended for a reasonable period. A report that simply turns out to be unproven is not unfounded — this is about knowingly false, repeated ones.
6. Appeals
If you believe a decision was wrong, write to justapp4u@gmail.com from the address registered to the account and describe the situation. You have 6 months from the decision to appeal. Appeals are reviewed by a person, not by an automated system, and we normally reply within 30 days. If the decision was mistaken, the restrictions are lifted and the material is restored.
The procedure is set out in more detail in section 7 of Copyright and rights-holder complaints. Coming to us does not take away your right to go to court.
